Most stone will split cleanly if the proper breaking technique is used. Wedges and shims have been used for eons in the stone industry, and are still among the most effective tools for splitting stone.
The Wedge and Shim Sets are available to fit hole sizes from 3/8" to 2" diameter. A rule of thumb is 3 sets required per foot of length of stone. For example, a 3 FT long stone would require approximately 9 sets. Drill hole depth to length of wedge. For more accurate splits or for more difficult to split stones, drill holes deeper, closer together and around all exposed sides. 3/8" through 7/8" hole sizes are available in packages of 5 sets (5 wedges & 10 shims). Sets for 1" hole and larger are available individually.
